Description

A comforting baked ziti dish layered with Italian sausage, ricotta, and a blend of cheeses, perfect for family gatherings or quiet dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the ziti pasta until al dente, then drain.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté garlic for 1 minute, then add the sausage and brown it.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the drained ziti, sausage, ricotta, marinara sauce, half of the mozzarella, and Parmesan until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and top with the remaining mozzarella.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can prepare this dish ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. It can also be frozen unbaked for up to 3 months.
