- 2 pounds potatoes
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt
- Pepper
- Chives (optional)
Instructions
- Start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into even-sized chunks, roughly 1 to 2 inches.
- Place the potato chunks in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
- In the last minute of boiling, add the garlic cloves to the pot.
- Once tender, carefully drain in a colander. Then, return the mixture to the pot to keep warm.
- Add the butter and heavy cream to the potatoes, then mash until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, and garnish with chopped chives if desired.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, use plant-based butter and unsweetened almond or oat milk instead of heavy cream.
