Description

A warm, creamy dish of scalloped potatoes that feels like a hug for your taste buds, perfect for cozy family meals and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds Yukon Gold or Russet Potatoes
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoons thyme
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes to about an eighth of an inch thick.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper, bay leaf, thyme, and minced garlic. Heat until just below boiling.
  4. In the greased baking dish, arrange a layer of sliced potatoes. Pour some of the cream mixture over this layer and top with grated parmesan cheese.
  5. Continue layering potatoes and cream mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with the cream mixture.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until golden brown and tender.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure potato slices are uniform for even cooking. Adjust seasonings to taste.
