Description

A rich and creamy dark chocolate mousse that is perfect for any occasion, topped with whipped cream and fresh berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh berries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, stirring gently until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until pale and creamy. Stir the melted chocolate into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.
  3. Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the chocolate mixture to maintain airiness.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the vanilla extract until soft peaks form, then fold this into the chocolate-egg mixture.
  5. Spoon the mousse into serving dishes, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  6. Serve topped with a dollop of whipped cream and fresh berries.

Notes

This mousse can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. It stays fresh for up to 3 days.
