Description

A comforting turkey shepherd’s pie with lean ground turkey, seasoned vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it with cooking spray or a bit of olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add onions, diced carrots, and celery. Cook these until they have softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once your vegetables are softened, add minced garlic and ground turkey to the skillet. Cook this mixture until the turkey is browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, peas, salt, and pepper. Allow this mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, giving it time to meld.
  5. Transfer the turkey mixture into your prepared baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top, smoothing out the surface gently.
  6. Place your dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
