Description
A comforting turkey shepherd’s pie with lean ground turkey, seasoned vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 2 cups frozen peas
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it with cooking spray or a bit of olive oil.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add onions, diced carrots, and celery. Cook these until they have softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once your vegetables are softened, add minced garlic and ground turkey to the skillet. Cook this mixture until the turkey is browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
- Stir in tomato paste, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, peas, salt, and pepper. Allow this mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, giving it time to meld.
- Transfer the turkey mixture into your prepared baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top, smoothing out the surface gently.
- Place your dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
