Description

A delightful layered casserole combining spaghetti, ground beef, marinara sauce, and three types of cheese that offers pure comfort food.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook the spaghetti until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat and stir in the marinara sauce; let simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread half of the spaghetti mixture, add half of the meat sauce, and then half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Let the casserole rest for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time and is suitable for freezing. Customize with different cheeses or substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a lighter version.
