A soothing homemade syrup made with rich elderberries and mullein, perfect for boosting your immune system and enjoying with tea or pancakes.
Ingredients

- 1 cup dried elderberries
- 1 cup mullein leaves (dried or fresh)
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup honey
- 1 lemon (juiced)
Instructions
- Combine the elderberries and mullein in a saucepan with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer gently for about 30 minutes, until the liquid reduces by half.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl.
- Cool the liquid slightly before mixing in the honey and lemon juice.
- Transfer the syrup into a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to two months.
Notes
Use maple syrup for a vegan version or replace mullein with peppermint for a different flavor. Store in a glass jar, and freeze for longer storage.
