Description

A comforting and savory smash burger topped with caramelized mushrooms and Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • Butter for toasting buns

Instructions

  1. Sauté onions and mushrooms by heating a skillet over medium heat and adding the diced onions and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 6 to 8 minutes until they are soft and golden.
  2. Prepare the ground beef by seasoning it with salt and pepper in a mixing bowl, then divide it into four equal portions.
  3. Heat the griddle or cast iron skillet over high heat until very hot.
  4. Smash the burgers by placing the ground beef balls on the skillet and flattening them with a spatula, cooking for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add cheese and toppings by placing a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty after flipping, and spooning the sautéed mushroom and onion mixture on top.
  6. Toast the buns in a separate skillet with melted butter until golden brown.
  7. Assemble your burgers by placing each patty on a toasted bun and adding any desired condiments.

Notes

These burgers are perfect for gatherings and pair well with fries or salads.
