Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- Butter for toasting buns
Instructions
- Sauté onions and mushrooms by heating a skillet over medium heat and adding the diced onions and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 6 to 8 minutes until they are soft and golden.
- Prepare the ground beef by seasoning it with salt and pepper in a mixing bowl, then divide it into four equal portions.
- Heat the griddle or cast iron skillet over high heat until very hot.
- Smash the burgers by placing the ground beef balls on the skillet and flattening them with a spatula, cooking for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add cheese and toppings by placing a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty after flipping, and spooning the sautéed mushroom and onion mixture on top.
- Toast the buns in a separate skillet with melted butter until golden brown.
- Assemble your burgers by placing each patty on a toasted bun and adding any desired condiments.
