Description

A comforting baked ziti casserole that brings everyone together with layers of pasta, marinara, and cheeses.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Mix the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well blended.
  4. Layer half of the cooked pasta in a large baking dish, followed by half of the marinara sauce, and half of the ricotta mixture. Top with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding your favorite vegetables or meats to the layers.
