- 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons water (optional for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Mix ingredients in a large bowl, combining ground beef, mushrooms, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape into oval patties.
- Brown the patties in a skillet with hot olive oil over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side, then set aside.
- Add beef broth to the skillet, scraping the bottom for flavor, and bring to a simmer.
- Return the browned patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer in broth for 15-20 minutes.
- If desired, mix cornstarch with water and add to the skillet to thicken the gravy.
- Serve the Salisbury steak with gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
