Description

A comforting cherry pie made with fresh or frozen cherries and a flaky, buttery crust, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts or homemade pie crust
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare your pie pan.
  2. Combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  3. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  4. Dot the filling with pieces of butter.
  5. Roll out the top crust and place it over the filling, cutting slits for steam vents if desired.
  6. Seal the edges of the pie.
  7. Whisk together egg and milk, then brush over the top crust.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
  9. Cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
