A comforting cherry pie made with fresh or frozen cherries and a flaky, buttery crust, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients

- 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts or homemade pie crust
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare your pie pan.
- Combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Dot the filling with pieces of butter.
- Roll out the top crust and place it over the filling, cutting slits for steam vents if desired.
- Seal the edges of the pie.
- Whisk together egg and milk, then brush over the top crust.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
- Cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
