Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a medium mixing bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Blend in the dry ingredients carefully until just combined.
  6. Shape the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool the cookies on wire racks.
  9. Prepare the frosting by creaming together softened butter and powdered sugar, adding milk and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Frost the cooled cookies and add food coloring if desired.
