Description

A classic, hearty Cottage Pie made with ground beef, tender vegetables, and topped with creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for comforting family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) while you prepare your ingredients.
  2. Sauté the chopped onion and diced carrots in olive oil over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then season with salt and pepper. Simmer and add the frozen peas for about 5-7 minutes until heated through.
  5. Transfer the beef mixture into a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to customize with different vegetables or substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
