Instructions
- Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork with breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix gently until fully combined, then form small meatballs.
- Brown the Meatballs: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches for 6-8 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Roux: In the same skillet, melt another tablespoon of butter, sprinkle flour, and whisk continuously for about 1 minute.
- Prepare the Creamy Sauce: Slowly whisk in beef broth, bringing it to a gentle simmer. Stir in heavy cream and soy sauce.
- Add the Meatballs Back: Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for 10-15 minutes, seasoning as needed.
- Make the Mashed Potatoes: Boil peeled and chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, then mash with butter, milk, and salt.
