Description

Celebrate Independence Day with these bright and festive Fourth of July Patriotic Swirl Cupcakes topped with a beautifully swirled buttercream.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Red and blue gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter until light.
  2. Add powdered sugar in rounds to avoid a mess.
  3. Add vanilla, salt, and a little milk; beat until fluffy.
  4. Split frosting into three bowls, coloring one red, one blue, and leaving one white.
  5. Fill a piping bag with the colored frostings using the stripe method.
  6. Pipe the frosting onto cooled cupcakes using your preferred technique.

Notes

To make the swirl more vibrant, always use gel food coloring. If the buttercream gets too soft while piping, chill it for 10 minutes.
