Description
A comforting recipe for fluffy cinnamon buns, perfect for brunch or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Prepare the yeast mixture: In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it’s warm, about 110°F. Stir in the sugar and yeast, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, eggs, and melted butter. Pour the frothy yeast mixture into the bowl and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for 5 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Roll out and fill: Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly from one end to the other.
- Shape and second rise: Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Bake the buns: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Prepare the icing: Mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzle over buns while still warm.
Notes
