Description

A comforting recipe for fluffy cinnamon buns, perfect for brunch or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture: In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it’s warm, about 110°F. Stir in the sugar and yeast, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, eggs, and melted butter. Pour the frothy yeast mixture into the bowl and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for 5 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out and fill: Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly from one end to the other.
  6. Shape and second rise: Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F.
  8. Bake the buns: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Prepare the icing: Mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzle over buns while still warm.

Notes

These buns can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
