Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup apple cider
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prep Pan: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the donut pan lightly.
- Reduce the Apple Cider: In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of apple cider to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until reduced to about 1/4 cup. Cool.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir in the cooled apple cider.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixes: Gently fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fill Pan and Bake: Fill each cavity of the donut pan 2/3 full with batter. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until donuts spring back when touched.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute melted butter with coconut oil or applesauce. You can also use whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
