Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your round cake pan.
- In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter and mix in brown sugar until smooth.
- Pour the brown sugar mixture into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
- Arrange your sliced apples over the brown sugar mixture in the pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just mixed.
- Pour the batter over the apples and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, checking for doneness.
- Let the cake cool slightly in the pan before inverting it onto a serving plate.
