Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your round cake pan.
  2. In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter and mix in brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Pour the brown sugar mixture into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
  4. Arrange your sliced apples over the brown sugar mixture in the pan.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  6. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just mixed.
  8. Pour the batter over the apples and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, checking for doneness.
  9. Let the cake cool slightly in the pan before inverting it onto a serving plate.
