A warm, spiced elderberry syrup infused with star anise and cinnamon, perfect for soothing chilly nights.
Ingredients

- 1 cup fresh elderberries
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup honey
- 2–3 star anise pods
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the elderberries, water, star anise, cinnamon stick, and ginger in a saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Simmer gently for 30 to 40 minutes until the liquid reduces by half.
- Strain the mixture using a fine mesh strainer into a clean jar.
- Add the honey and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined.
- Cool to room temperature before sealing and store in the refrigerator.
Notes
This syrup can last up to two weeks in the refrigerator or can be frozen for up to 6 months.
