Description

A heartwarming dessert that combines soft, moist cake with the comforting flavors of applesauce and warm spices.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Combine applesauce, sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in chopped walnuts if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
